AWS Recommendations
Similar to Azure and GCP, Yotascale provides both billing account-level and utilization-level cost optimization recommendations for AWS. Payer account-level recommendations focus on maximizing discounts, while utilization-level recommendations offer granular insights into resource usage within each linked/member account and across various cloud services.
AWS Savings Plans Purchase Recommendations
Yotascale simplifies the process of selecting AWS Savings Plans by offering enhanced recommendations tailored to your historical usage data.
Please note: these recommendations are generated directly by Yotascale, with added value by giving multiple options to compare costs and be able to make the best choice.
To access and compare these recommendations:
Open the Yotascale dashboard.
Navigate to the "Recommendations" section and select "AWS Savings Plans Purchase Recommendation."
Add multiple options for side-by-side comparison, adjusting the look-back period (historical data analyzed), term (1 or 3 years), and upfront payment amount (full, partial, or none).
Once you've identified the best fit for your needs, Yotascale provides a direct link to complete the purchase within the AWS console.
AWS Reserved Instances or Nodes
AWS offers Reserved Instances (RIs) for services such as EC2, RDS, Redshift, OpenSearch, and ElastiCache. These RIs often deliver significant savings, sometimes exceeding 30%, and are specific to both the AWS account and region where they are applied.
Yotascale streamlines RI management by aggregating recommendations from AWS Trusted Advisor across multiple accounts into a single view. We automatically highlight the option with the highest potential savings, considering both the RI term (typically, 3-year terms offer the most significant discounts) and your preferred upfront payment amount.
To ensure you have the most up-to-date recommendations, grant Yotascale access to your AWS Trusted Advisor data. This allows us to refresh recommendations daily and present you with the best cost optimization opportunities.
Utilization Recommendations
These recommendations are resource-specific and tailored to each cloud service provider. Because they are calculated based on recent resource utilization, they are highly dynamic and can change daily.
Unlike other recommendations, these offer specific actions, such as shutting down an idle server or rightsizing to a more cost-effective instance type that maintains performance. These actions have a direct and immediate impact on daily costs.
A key advantage is that these recommendations can be directly linked to the business context lenses. By mapping the resource IDs to the corresponding nodes in the business hierarchy, each team can see only the recommendations relevant to their specific workloads, making them more actionable.
To maintain optimal cost control, we strongly recommend that teams review these cost-saving recommendations several times a week, in conjunction with monitoring for potential cost spikes (anomalies).
